Boarding Facilities
- Castlewood Ranch is a 30-acre private equestrian facility in Aptos Hills, California. The grounds are open by appointment only unless you are boarding or leasing with us. The facility boasts immaculate manicured grounds.
- We offer limited horse boarding in covered pipe stalls, large shared paddocks or seasonal pasture to easy going equestrians who share our passion for horse rescue.
- There is a 60' redwood round pen with sanded and rubberized footing. A center drain provides for year round access.
- Boarders can enjoy the sanded and rubberized 100 x 120 arena with adjustable and fixed jumps.
- There is a cross country course with 10 field-type jumps built for both advanced and beginner jumpers in mind. The outer course can also be used for cart driving.
- Castlewood Ranch has a hot/cold wash station. There are two covered groom areas with three cross-tie stations. We have hitching posts everywhere!
- Boarders are assigned to one of two boarder tack rooms. One has an attached grain storage area.
- There is a boarder bathroom equipped with emergency contact information.
- When space allows, boarders can be assigned to seasonal pasture. For horses assigned to stalls, we have designated grazing areas for boarder use.
- There is turn-out space for stalled horses, and turn-out service is available.
- Castlewood Ranch offers grain and blanket service for stalled horses for a modest fee. We feed alfalfa, forage, oat or grass, and check on all horses at least two times per day.
- Stalls are cleaned daily (except in inclement weather). Paddocks are cleaned weekly.
- Castlewood Ranch has access to miles of the best private riding trails.
- When available, we offer assigned trailer parking space for a modest fee.
- There are experienced trainers on site. We can train you, or your horse!
- All of these amenities are behind a private gate to keep your equine friend (and you) safe.

We are small in size, but big on quality. More importantly, when you board, lease or train at Castlewood you are supporting equine rescue. Be assured we have strict bio-security and quarantine measures to keep your horse -and ours- safe. We require routine shots and worming for all horses and have designated sick and quarantine bays that can be readily decontaminated after use.

Covered Pipe Stall

12 x 36 individual stall with mats and auto water float. Adjacent self turn out area.
Large Shared Paddock

12 x 12 covered open end stalls with attached 36 x 72 paddock for three compatible horses. Mats and auto water float.
Box Stall w/ Paddock

Available May 1 - October 31. Limited space. Barb-less wire fencing. Horses go back into assigned stalls for winter and the price set for that space.

Horse Leasing, Training & Hauling Services
Horse Leasing
$250
Castlewood has beginner to advanced horses available for on site part time lease. Lease fees start at $200 per month. Saddles and tack can be provided. We require a minimum three month lease term.
Training Services
$75- $85 /hr
We have two trainers on site for individual beginner to advanced English or Western riding lessons. We also provide on site horse training, from initial ground work through hunter / jumper under saddle. Individual lessons are $85 per hour. Horses and tack can be provided. Group lessons can be arranged for $75 per hour.
Local Hauling
Varies
Castlewood can provide local hauling services in our 2-horse or 3-horse slant load trailers. Hauling fees are based on number of horses and mileage. Horse(s) must readily load or a training surcharge will be added.
Full Service Options
Full service is available for busy or absent owners.
Supplement Service
$40
Service is available for individually stalled horses only. Supplements must be bagged and ready to go. Supplements given at the morning feeding.
Blanket Service
$75
Daily management of winter blanket. Blankets will stay on during inclement weather and removed on warmer days. We do not manage fly sheets. Price is per month.
Turnout Service
$75
Horse turned out 4 times per week for a minimum of one hour in designated area. Daily turn out is $100 per month, and can be all day if long term turn out space is available.
